2012: Mario

For my 2012 birthday desert project, I went with a scene that would be easy to assemble from building blocks—a callback to Super Mario Bros. Mario himself used red velvet cake for his red pixels (marking one of only two uses of actual cake in one of these projects), brownie for his brown ones, and rice krispies treats (homemade, of course) for his yellow ones; the ? block was a cheesecake with chocolate squares; the brick block was blondies for bricks held together with chocolate fudge mortar; and the coins were giant cookies (chocolate chip cookie dough without the chocolate chips). As you can see, I kind of assembled the different sprites separately, and one color at a time, and then put everything together to present.
