STAR Movie Posters

Outside of STARfest, one of the biggest ways I got to regularly exercise my design muscles in STAR was designing posters for our movie outing “Away Missions”. Because weekly club meeting posters had to be designed on a rapid schedule, there was not as much time to get creative with them, but since movie outings were planned further in advance, I was able to take my time learning to recreate or work with the style of the movie's own poster.

My earliest efforts tended toward just working with the rough layouts of the posters.

As I gained more experience, however, I began copying more of the textures in the official posters, layering more things behind elements on the posters, and combining elements from different official posters into my final design.

Over the years I was involved, I customized more than 20 movie posters for STAR.
